What is Sizewell C?
Sizewell C is a major proposed nuclear power station planned for construction on the Suffolk coast in England. It is set to feature two European Pressurised Reactors (EPRs) and, once operational in the mid-2030s, is expected to generate 3.2 gigawatts of electricity, enough to power approximately six million homes. This project represents a significant government investment, with a recent pledge of £14.2 billion and the promise of 10,000 jobs. This move aims to enhance the UK's energy security, reduce reliance on imported fossil fuels, and contribute to national net-zero targets. However, the reality remains that power from Sizewell C is at least a decade away, with generation expected to begin in the mid-2030s.
What benefits does this have for the people of Suffolk?
For the local community in Suffolk, the Sizewell C project is anticipated to bring several benefits. Its construction is projected to create 10,000 jobs over the next decade. Once operational, the plant is expected to employ 900 people for its 60-year service life. Local voices, such as a trainee paramedic from nearby Leiston, see it as a boost for the town and the local economy, bringing increased revenue and income. Trade unions have also welcomed the government's investment, highlighting that Sizewell C would provide "thousands of good, skilled, unionised jobs".
What negatives?
Despite the perceived benefits, the Sizewell C project has faced opposition from some local residents and groups. Concerns have been raised about its potential cost and environmental impact. One local farmer, David Grant, whose farm will be cut in two by a new access road, called the funding "outrageous" and expressed disbelief at pouring taxpayers' money into a project by a company that has not completed nuclear projects on time or on budget. Anti-Sizewell C campaigner Jenny Kirtley, chair of Together Against Sizewell C, has described the construction to date as "dreadful" and noted the significant negative impact on the local environment. Additionally, while jobs are promised, some locals acknowledge the "negatives of the traffic" during construction.
"We believe that true energy independence begins today, not in a decade. While national projects like Sizewell C are vital for the UK's long-term energy security, our immediate focus with PowerPod and PowerCore is on empowering homes and businesses to take control of their energy consumption now, driving down bills and building a sustainable future, one battery at a time."

The Need for Present-Day Energy Control
Current energy costs continue to be a pressing concern for both residential and commercial sectors in the UK. The reliance on global gas and oil prices, exacerbated by international events like Russia's invasion of Ukraine, has led to substantial increases in household bills in recent years. This immediate pressure underscores the importance of energy solutions that offer tangible benefits now, rather than in the distant future. That's precisely where we come in.
Empowering Commercial Growth Today
For businesses seeking to navigate rising energy costs and meet sustainability goals, we know advanced battery storage systems offer a compelling solution.
Our PowerCore system is designed to transform how organisations manage their energy needs, providing significant savings even without solar integration. Businesses can achieve up to 70% savings on energy costs by strategically charging during off-peak hours when electricity is cheapest and discharging it during costly peak times. This translates to immediate cost reductions and enhanced energy resilience, acting as a crucial backup power source during grid outages. Unlike energy sources dependent on daylight, PowerCore provides continuous savings, 24/7, all year round.
